Terms of use
These terms of use govern CalcSmith, a site of 12 free online calculators. By using the site you accept these terms of use in full; if you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. Last updated: November 2026.
The calculators and their results
CalcSmith publishes 12 calculators: auto loan, mortgage, student loan, CD, PMI, credit card payoff, compound interest, retirement savings, home equity loan, car insurance, loan comparison and percentage. Each one runs the standard formula named on its own page — the amortization formula for loans, the compound-growth formula for savings — and shows a worked example with real figures next to the tool. For example, the mortgage page works a $320,000 loan at 6.5% APR through to its $2,022.62 monthly payment (source: our analysis — that page's worked example), so you can check the tool against the arithmetic before trusting it with your own numbers.
How accuracy is checked
Every worked example is recomputed independently before publication, and the calculators' shared math is covered by an automated test suite of 71 checks that must pass before any change ships. In practice that means a wrong figure in an example blocks the release, not just a correction note afterwards. If you find a figure you believe is wrong, report it through the contact page with the numbers you entered, and we will reproduce it and fix it if we are wrong.
Estimates, not advice
CalcSmith provides educational calculation tools. Results are estimates based on the inputs you provide and standard financial formulas; they are not financial, tax, legal or investment advice, and they do not constitute an offer of credit, insurance or any financial product. Lenders, insurers and tax authorities compute their own figures, which may differ. For significant decisions, verify results with a qualified professional.
Accuracy
We work to keep every formula, example and explanation correct, and we correct reported errors promptly. We do not guarantee that results are free of error or that explanatory content (typical rates, tax rules, program details) is current in your jurisdiction.
Use of the site
You may use the calculators freely for personal and commercial evaluation purposes. Republishing the site's content wholesale, scraping it to build a competing copy, or misrepresenting CalcSmith results as official quotes from a lender or authority is not permitted.
Liability
Your use of the calculators and the decisions you base on them are your responsibility. CalcSmith is not liable for losses arising from reliance on estimated results.
Third-party links
Calculator pages link to outside sources — the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the IRS, Federal Student Aid and similar bodies — so you can check rules and rates at the source. Those sites are operated by their own owners under their own terms; a link is a reference, not an endorsement, and CalcSmith is not responsible for their content.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the new version is published on this page with a new date at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. The current version was published on November 3, 2026.
